About the Festival

The 5th annual Mural City Art Fest returns to downtown Dothan the last week of April and continues through May 1, 2010.  This annual celebration of the arts showcases the skills of local artisans, brings talented artists from across the tri-state area and offers everyone a chance to enjoy the good things that are happening downtown.

This year Sloss Furnace of Birmingham is coming to the festival on May 1st.  Festival visitors will have an opportunity to learn about Alabama’s rich metal arts history through hands-on educational activities for children and adults.

There are a variety of festival events taking place throughout the downtown area so make sure to check the event schedule for location and time information.

Mural City Art Fest is the area’s premier spring festival and one of three annual events produced by the Downtown Group.  The Downtown Group is a consortium of business people and individuals interested in the revitalization of Dothan’s downtown area.  Other Downtown Group events are Poplar Head Farmers Market and the “Downtown Christmas Festival”.

Downtown Group events are free or moderately priced thanks to member support, corporate sponsors, public/private partnerships and community volunteers.
